TAKE-TWO Interactive this week spoke about the release of Red Dead Redemption 2 amid rumours of a PC launch, but still revealed a few new details about the Rockstar release.
Red Dead Redemption 2 could come to PC following recent leaked documents
Red Dead Redemption 2 could be set for a PC release, following the discovery of a leak by one of the most popular DRM providers.
DRM providers essentially help stop piracy and according to www.rdr2.com, Denuvo Software Solutions, one of the many forms of DRM providers, may have leaked plans for a new Rockstar PC release.
“The most important takeaway from this is that Rockstar will be using Denuvo in the future. Denuvo is only used on PC. If Rockstar will be using it, then they will be releasing something for PC.
“Their only upcoming game that we know about is Red Dead Redemption 2. Putting two and two together here shouldn’t be too hard.”
There’s no doubt that fans of Rockstar’s wild west series want the Red Dead 2 to come to PC, as evidenced by this Change.org petition with over 50,000+ signatures and as rdr2.com suggests, it’s only a matter of time.
“RDR2 getting an eventual release on PC in spite of no PC version having been announced is a common expectation.” claims the site.
“Since GTA 5 pulled a similar stunt, releasing the PC port almost 2 years after initial launch, many think the PC port will simply arrive later – maybe much later.
“There are a handful of good arguments to support a PC port. If we were to compare the ports of GTA 4 and GTA 5, massive strides forward can be noted, meaning Rockstar pumped a lot of cash into upgrading their PC development pipeline and structure.
“They’re unlikely to allow that investment to go down the drain with their first new project since.”

Earlier this week, Take-Two Interactive, who own developers Rockstar (creators of GTA and Red Dead Redemption), spoke about the upcoming launch of Red Dead Redemption 2, providing some fresh details that shed more light on the upcoming wild west sequel.
Speaking during the third-quarter earnings call with investors, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick re-confirmed that Red Dead Redemption 2’s release date was set for Fall 2017.
“Looking ahead, our Company has a robust long-term development pipeline and is better positioned for success than at any time in its history,”
“We expect to grow both bookings and net cash provided by operating activities in fiscal 2018, driven by our release slate led by Rockstar Games’ highly anticipated launch of Red Dead Redemption 2.”
In the same call, Zelnick also said that he couldn’t see Red Dead Redemption 2 harming future sales or engagement of GTA or GTA Online.
“I’m fond of saying, entertainment’s an unusual animal in that entertainment properties don’t really compete with other entertainment properties in that you never need entertainment.
“Entertainment is something you want to have and need to have. If nothing in the market appeals to you at one time no reason to go and get it, if there are multiple things that appeal to you, average consumers will consume all of those things.
“So I don’t think there’s any competitive dynamic with any of our upcoming releases apart from the fact our successes is driven by quality.
“So I think the success of Red Dead, which is highly anticipated, will be driven by its quality and I think the ongoing success of GTA online is also driven by its quality.”
