Starkey: I seriously doubt it, Mr. @IronMirandy (is there an @IronMirandy Light?), considering Cruz’s recent history. He missed all of 2015 after playing in just six games in 2014 and caught just 39 passes (one touchdown) this past season (including none against the Steelers) before the Giants released him. Cruz has probably forgotten how to Salsa by now. Besides which, if he’s looking to rack up numbers, joining the Conga line of Steelers receivers at age 30 probably isn’t his best bet. However, your question raises another: Could the Steelers use a veteran receiver in the room, provided he can still play? I say yes, and I say that player should be Anquan Boldin. I don’t care that Boldin, 36, lacks YAC (he averaged a sickly 8.7 yards per catch this past season with the Lions). What I do care about is that he remains a combat-catch warrior who reeled in 70 percent of the passes thrown his way, including a team-leading eight touchdowns, and converted 20 third-down passes into first downs.
