Stillwater businesses rally to help store owners whose son died – Twin Cities – WBNews

Stillwater merchants are rallying to help fellow downtown business owners John and Kelly Daly, whose son was found dead this weekend on a rural road north of Duluth. Joel Costa, a 32-year-old Minnesota National Guard member from Fredenburg Township, was reported missing after he failed to show up for weekend drill duty Saturday morning. He was last seen in Superior, Wis., about 11:30 p.m. Friday. The Dalys own Gammy & Gumpy’s toy store and the Kids Oasis indoor play space at 120 S. Main St.; John Daly, Costa’s stepfather, is the former general manager of the Freight House Restaurant & Night Club and Trump’s Deluxe Bar & Grill. Members of the Main Street Stillwater Independent Business Alliance, the Greater Stillwater Chamber of Commerce and the Stillwater/Oak Park Heights Convention & Visitors Bureau on Monday organized a tribute to Costa. They are asking people to buy toys at Gammy & Gumpy’s that will be donated to Minnesota National Guard families in Costa’s name. “We share a mission to lift our local businesses up, and we felt that is would be a great way to do it,” said Amy Pelletier, the owner of Darn Knit Anyway and a Main Street IBA board member.
